Trust your gut: Digital marketing entrepreneur Jade Spooner on finding her founder feet again

Equalution and Big Uppetite co-founder Jade Spooner.

"Even though things on paper seemed great at Equalution, there was something in me that felt like I had more to give," says Jade Spooner.

Having co-founded body transformation and nutrition app Equalution at the age of 21 with her friend Amal Wakim, Jade Spooner was almost 30 by the time she left, spurred by a passion to help other entrepreneurs build their digital businesses and prosper.

Friends and family thought she was mad because the company was thriving with eye-watering valuations, but her intuition was that her skills acquired in digital marketing, tech integration and business development would be better applied elsewhere.

In February 2022 Jade teamed up with WBFF Pro bodybuilder and fitness business expert Jenna Davies to found Big Uppetite, an agency that combines marketing with digital tech, development and mentorship through various programs, accelerators and services.

The impact was immediate with six-figure revenue in the first month of operation, and since then the startup has continued to grow rapidly in tandem with its clients.

Jade tells Business News Australia she has felt inspired over the last few months after seeing the results of her tough decision come to fruition.

"I had that self-doubt that a lot of people generally have over whether the next thing will pull off. Do I have what it takes, or was what was achieved at Equalution just a one-time thing? Finding success in Big Uppetite has been really rewarding for me," says the entrepreneur, who will be telling her story and giving advice to other founders at the E2E Summit on 16-17 February at the ivy in Sydney

"There may be people in the crowd who have just started a startup and still aren't quite sure, or alternatively they might be in a 9-5 job and aren't sure whether to take that plunge. What I did was a huge risk for me, and that could definitely resonate with people - I trusted my intuition."

She will be one of many incredible entrepreneurs giving their insights at the inaugural event, with others including Flora & Fauna founder Julie Mathers, Ampersand co-founder Alex Bottomley, VentureCrowd founder Steve Maarbani, and many more.   2. Overcoming self-doubt to drive her new business Big Uppetite forward with outstanding growth in a short space of time;
